The Day of the Dead is a festival in which the people in Mexico honor their ancestors who have passed on, through making small shrines dedicated to them, and making special baked goods such as bread of the dead. Many other things go on, such as dancing and dressing up in colorful costumes. The Day of the Dead is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd.
Everyone seems to be happy, and not sad like we are when someone close to us dies. They celebrate life and what they have, but also look back on their memories with their past friends and family.
I know that the Day of the Dead is a day to remember and celebrate the life of your deceased loved ones. This is kind of like Halloween for us, because everyone dresses up and celebrates the day. It is also kind of like having a memorial for a person a year or a few years after they have died.
Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday celebrated all throughout Mexico and by people with a Mexican heritage elsewhere. Dia de los Muertos is a time when people remember their ancestors. They make these altars and fill them up with things that they think their ancestors will need in the “World of the Dead.” Celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. They also have festivals and parades, as well as gatherings of families at cemeteries to pray for their deceased loved ones at the end of the day.
I think that the culture in Mexico is very important to them. It is a way to celebrate those are are not with us anymore. Christmas is somewhat similar to this because we celebrate the birthday of Jesus.
